The Patriots treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending No. 222 on J.J. Weaver a full 172 spots early. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
On value alone, Sanders makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 4 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They read the board right and Derrick Harmon was the payoff at pick 38. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Hollin Pierce in No. 69, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 77 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Smael Mondon Jr. at the 105th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The board fumbled Kevin Winston Jr. all the way to the 145th pick, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jake Briningstool. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value said wait; J.J. Weaver in Round 7, Pick 4 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Raheim Sanders was still sitting there in slot 240, and they pounced on premier running back value. The roster fit checks out.
