You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Eagles did exactly that with TJ Hall in the 178th pick.
However the rest shakes out, Allen at that price is a win they earned. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 4 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 23 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on Gabe Jacas in No. 54; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Daylen Everette at the Round 3 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Elijah Sarratt at slot 98 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Emmett Johnson in the 114th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Tyreak Sapp in the 153rd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
TJ Hall in No. 178 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cyrus Allen in the 197th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
