You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Eric O'Neill in No. 84.
The Reed-Adams pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
So much rides on A.J. Haulcy that the real verdict is a season or two away.

A reasonable price with a little left over, A.J. Haulcy in the 52nd pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They reached a country mile for Eric O'Neill at Round 3, Pick 20, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Keylan Rutledge at pick 120 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
John Michael Gyllenborg at pick No. 160 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They barely believed it either: Ar'maj Reed-Adams still on the board at the Round 6 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Keyshaun Elliott at the 236th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They let Luke Altmyer come to them and pounced at the 255th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
