Carolina Panthers

Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Panthers: C+.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Panthers spent the 83rd overall pick on Logan Fano, a name the board had a full 172 spots lower.

Regis at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The Hunter pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at wide receiver, cornerback and other spots.

If Kayden McDonald and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.19 · Pick 19 · Kayden McDonald · DT · rank 20
A straight-up fair deal on Kayden McDonald at slot 19, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
R2.19 · Pick 51 · Lee Hunter · DT · rank 48
A want over a need in pick No. 51: Lee Hunter adds an interior defensive lineman while wide receiver, cornerback and other spots keeps waiting.
R3.19 · Pick 83 · Logan Fano · DE-EDGE · rank 255
They reached into another round for Logan Fano, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.19 · Pick 119 · Jalen Farmer · OG · rank 106
A slide stopped in Round 4, Pick 19, with Jalen Farmer worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.18 · Pick 158 · Jaren Kanak · TE · rank 221
Jaren Kanak at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.19 · Pick 159 · Josh Cuevas · TE · rank 237
A wild overpay on Josh Cuevas in No. 159, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
R6.19 · Pick 200 · Albert Regis · DL · rank 168
Albert Regis in the 200th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
