The Mason McCormick selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 32 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They banked enough surplus on Bullock to cover a lot of smaller sins.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a wrecking ball inside. A real need, handled.
Payton Wilson at pick No. 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A reach on Mike Sainristil in Round 2, Pick 26; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid a round early for Trey Benson in the Round 3 slot, more than the board wanted. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nice patience on Calen Bullock, who had no business lasting to slot 91. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A real head-scratcher, Mason McCormick in No. 127 is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Malik Mustapha slipping to the Round 5 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
