Whoever sat across the table from the Patriots should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They banked enough surplus on McClellan to cover a lot of smaller sins.
They are betting Sanders proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
Rome Odunze at pick 11 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Tyler Guyton went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 2. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Ja'Tavion Sanders in the Round 2 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy little value on D.J. James in No. 68, a step better than break-even. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Blake Fisher in slot 104 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
Jaheim Bell at pick No. 136 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Michael Barrett in the 182nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A quiet steal in the 229th overall pick: Jase McClellan for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
