Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story.

The phones were a trap the Cowboys kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Put together, it is a D-.

The cost of the Kamara reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They banked enough surplus on Stukes to cover a lot of smaller sins.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Jermod McCoy · CB · rank 16
In slot 12 they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R1.20 · Pick 20 · Sonny Styles · LB · rank 11
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Sonny Styles in pick No. 20. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · A.J. Haulcy · S · rank 50
A reasonable price with a little left over, A.J. Haulcy in the Round 2 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R2.28 · Pick 60 · Christen Miller · DL · rank 59
A straight-up fair deal on Christen Miller at the 60th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.28 · Pick 92 · Bryce Lance · WR · rank 96
No edge and no loss on Bryce Lance in pick 92; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Treydan Stukes · CB · rank 74
They robbed the room for Treydan Stukes here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Keyshaun Elliott · LB · rank 124
Keyshaun Elliott in Round 4, Pick 12 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.29 · Pick 129 · Mikail Kamara · DE-EDGE · rank 154
Value said wait; Mikail Kamara in No. 129 says they were not listening. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R5.12 · Pick 152 · Beau Stephens · OG · rank 160
The board had cheaper options than Beau Stephens at Round 5, Pick 12, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.37 · Pick 177 · Keagen Trost · OT · rank 186
A premium they did not need to pay, Keagen Trost a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.40 · Pick 180 · Matt Gulbin · C · rank 182
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Matt Gulbin. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.2 · Pick 218 · Bobby Jamison-Travis · DT · rank 218
No drama and no debate, Bobby Jamison-Travis went about where he belonged in pick 218. A need, and now a little less of one.
