The Cowboys torched the value chart for Mikail Kamara, taking him 41 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. On value alone, Hill Jr. makes the weekend a net positive.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Jaylin Noel gives the group a proven body among the projects.
In the end it comes back to Jermod McCoy, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jermod McCoy at pick No. 28 is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They read the board right and Sonny Styles was the payoff at the 31st pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Christen Miller in the Round 2 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
They robbed the room for Anthony Hill Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached into another round for Markel Bell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Mikail Kamara in slot 112, miles early. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A tidy bit of business in No. 113, where Treydan Stukes graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jeff Caldwell at pick No. 180 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for TJ Hall in slot 218, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
