Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Rod Moore got past him. The Chiefs do not have to explain a thing at the Round 3 slot.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Delp to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a weapon on the perimeter, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Oscar Delp at the 64th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They did well to land Quincy Riley in pick No. 69, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
You do not let a safety like Rod Moore reach slot 96 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Wyatt Milum at No. 128 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Steal is underselling it; Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Thor Griffith at the 193rd pick, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Dylan Fairchild at Round 7, Pick 32 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
