Good, not great, for the Chiefs: B.

The Chiefs clearly saw something nobody else did in Theo Johnson, taking him 29 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Adonai Mitchell · WR · rank 32
In the 32nd pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Xavier Worthy · WR · rank 67
They paid sticker price for Xavier Worthy in pick No. 66, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Theo Johnson · TE · rank 124
A wild overpay on Theo Johnson in slot 95, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.32 · Pick 132 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 129
Isaac Guerendo in the 132nd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.24 · Pick 160 · Walter Rouse · OT · rank 163
No edge and no loss on Walter Rouse in No. 160; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.37 · Pick 173 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 161
Dwight McGlothern at pick 173 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R7.6 · Pick 226 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 235
They paid up for Michael Barrett at No. 226 when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.28 · Pick 248 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 246
No drama and no debate, Jalen Sundell went about where he belonged in the 248th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.32 · Pick 252 · Anim Dankwah · OT · rank 278
Anim Dankwah at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
