Every other box got a look, but quarterback did not. The Chiefs will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
The Jackson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a No. 1 receiver, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Patrick Paul at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Khyree Jackson at the 95th overall pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Theo Johnson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
By-the-book stuff, Mason McCormick at the 158th pick squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Walter Rouse at par in No. 172, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
