Kansas City Chiefs

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Chiefs: B.

Everything else got attention, and tight end got none. That is a strange way for the Chiefs to leave a draft. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

They will need Smith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The Jones steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 24
In pick 32 they get a true top target, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 67
Patrick Paul at slot 64 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Leonard Taylor III · DL · rank 98
Leonard Taylor III in Round 3, Pick 32 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 146
They paid up for Tykee Smith at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. A minor itch, scratched.
R5.22 · Pick 158 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 148
They let Jarrian Jones come to them and pounced at No. 158. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Walter Rouse · OT · rank 171
By-the-book stuff, Walter Rouse at the 172nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
