Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs cashed the board's mistake on Davis: B-.

Call it larceny. J.C. Davis sat on the board until No. 128, and the Chiefs did not need to be asked twice.

Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Bond reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Isaiah Bond · WR · rank 44
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a matchup problem out wide, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Quincy Riley · CB · rank 66
Quincy Riley at the 64th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Rod Moore · S · rank 64
Rod Moore at pick No. 69 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.32 · Pick 96 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 105
Smael Mondon Jr. at pick 96 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.32 · Pick 128 · J.C. Davis · OT · rank 109
J.C. Davis in No. 128 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.32 · Pick 160 · Jaheim Oatis · DT · rank 144
A quiet steal in the 160th overall pick: Jaheim Oatis for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.1 · Pick 193 · Armand Membou · OT · rank 197
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Armand Membou. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.32 · Pick 224 · Zy Alexander · CB · rank 221
Fair-plus on Zy Alexander, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
