It is the swing that defines the weekend: Keilan Robinson in pick No. 249, a good 85 spots before the room expected him. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 28 they get a true top target, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
A premium they did not need to pay, Payton Wilson a notch or two before his time. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 91 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Theo Johnson in the Round 4 slot, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They went early on Roger Rosengarten in the 161st pick, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Christian Jones in No. 171 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Michael Barrett went about where he belonged in the 175th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Walter Rouse at slot 206 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A wild overpay on Keilan Robinson in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
