After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Wiggins.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Jayden Daniels at pick 7 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nate Wiggins at the Round 2 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They took Keon Coleman at par in the 38th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Graham Barton at the 68th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
DeWayne Carter at pick No. 104 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jaheim Bell at Round 4, Pick 36 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A quiet steal in No. 182: Justin Rogers for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A conviction pick on Emani Bailey at slot 184 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
