Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
However the rest shakes out, Anthony at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 7 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Brian Thomas Jr. in pick 34. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They let Troy Fautanu come to them and pounced at slot 38. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Keon Coleman in No. 76 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Bucky Irving is a better player than the Round 4 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Blake Fisher in the 114th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Max Melton at the 136th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They will replay Jaylen Wright at Round 6, Pick 7 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
They barely believed it either: Renardo Green still on the board at the 184th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Daijahn Anthony at slot 230 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
