Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Getting Still where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center at fair value.
Good price on Brian Thomas Jr. in No. 34, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Patrick Paul in Round 2, Pick 15 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
By-the-book stuff, Trey Benson at the 68th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Roman Wilson all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: DJ James still on the board at pick No. 136. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They let Dadrion Taylor-Demerson come to them and pounced at pick 182. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Tarheeb Still in slot 229 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
