· 9 picks
· 4 steals
· 1 reaches
Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Patriots came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Liufau.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A tidy bit of business in the 34th pick, where Amarius Mims graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kamren Kinchens in No. 35 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Trey Benson at pick 66 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid up for Roman Wilson at Round 3, Pick 4 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Marist Liufau at slot 104 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaheim Bell. The roster fit checks out.
Value with a capital V on Joe Milton III in the 182nd overall pick, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Jared Wiley at slot 229 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
