The Cowboys bet big and early on Gabe Hall, 59 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.
The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Getting Logan Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 1st pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Rome Odunze at pick 9 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
In the 24th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Guyton in slot 56 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Bucky Irving went about where he belonged in No. 87. A need, and now a little less of one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Keith Randolph Jr. this early at pick No. 132. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Gabe Hall at pick 159 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They talked themselves into Anthony Gould at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They barely believed it either: Kenny Logan Jr. still on the board at the 249th pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
