You build a draft on nights like this. Jordan Hancock had no business being available in the 243rd overall pick, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Campbell pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Jihaad Campbell at No. 25 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tate Ratledge a notch or two before his time. A need, and now a little less of one.
They liked Tez Johnson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 89. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Darius Alexander in pick 127 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ollie Gordon II in the 167th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They will replay Jordan Hancock at slot 243 for years; that is how good the value is. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
