Every other box got a look, but tight end did not. The Chiefs will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
Thomas Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They are betting Rogers proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 32 they get a true top target at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A straight-up fair deal on Patrick Paul at pick 65, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
DJ James slipping to pick No. 95 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Marcus Harris in Round 5, Pick 5 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
A clean, defensible pick in the 158th pick with a little surplus value in Malik Mustapha. A minor itch, scratched.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ty'Ron Hopper. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reach on Justin Rogers in the Round 6 slot; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
