The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Patriots watched Josh Newton slide 32 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The Patriots paired the rookies with proven help, Josh Jacobs leading the way.

Pick-by-Pick
A tidy bit of business in Round 1, Pick 19, where Joe Alt graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kiran Amegadjie. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at No. 68, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Christian Mahogany at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Roman Wilson in pick No. 104, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Josh Newton in pick 114 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
