The Texans clearly saw something nobody else did in Collin Oliver, taking him 95 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
The Moore steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Marcus Mbow in the Round 2 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Deone Walker in the 89th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They will replay Malachi Moore at slot 127 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A reach on Ollie Gordon II in Round 5, Pick 28; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Collin Oliver in No. 243 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
