You could see the war room lean forward. Ollie Gordon II at Round 7, Pick 25 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Booker to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a building block for the line, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
Deone Walker at slot 58 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Tez Johnson at the 89th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Billy Bowman Jr. at the 127th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jack Nelson at pick No. 167 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
