They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. On value alone, Hardy makes the weekend a net positive.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They will need Wiley to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 8 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Keon Coleman in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Xavier Worthy in pick 68. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reach for Sataoa Laumea in the 104th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Jones at slot 136, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jared Wiley. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Daequan Hardy was still sitting there in the 229th pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
