Scouting Report: Strengths
- Is effective when asked to pull, showing the agility, speed, and overall range to get out as a lead blocker, where Raym locates defenders and shows the ability to adjust and land blocks against linebackers.
- Has a stout build with a strong, flexible core. He’s a rock in the middle of the line as a pass protector, with the heavy hands and strong grip to hold his own against bigger defensive tackles.
- His high football IQ and the ability to set protections at the line of scrimmage will make him popular with position coaches. He’s instinctive after the snap, reading and reacting quickly to stunts and twists and showing an understanding of angles in the run game.
- Solid positional run blocker who flashes the nasty demeanor and killer instinct scouts covet.
- Willing to attack and punches multiple times to finish the play. Quick to pick up edge blitz and shows no panic, easily adjusting angles and resetting his feet. Can recover and reset his anchor. Rarely late off the snap.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Light on his feet for a guard but doesn't possess the range or size to remain outside against NFL pass rushers.
- Sometimes Raym simply gets too impatient to sit back in his set, reaching and lunging and generally playing with poor balance.
- Plays with poor balance, doing too much reaching and lunging when his initial punch is ineffective. Trying to mirror against quickness will be a problem for him.
- Doesn’t display the agility and speed to effectively get around as a pulling guard. Raym generally struggles in space, and he will have a tough time consistently landing blocks on the second level
