Draft Profile: Bio
Carson Hinzman from Saint Croix Central High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Hinzman opted to join Ohio State.

In 2023 as a freshman Hinzman saw action in 12 games and played a total of 758 snaps for the Buckeyes. He allowed 11 QB hurries, 6 QB hits, and no sacks while playing at center.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • An agile mover who puts his length to good use, using his hands aggressively and landing solid initial punches. Hinzman can move to the second level as a run blocker, with the coordination and balance to hit moving targets.
  • Outstanding in the screen game, both because of his instincts to deceive defenders and mobility to get out in front and land blocks.
  • Finishes and doesn't quit; competitor with a positive attitude and leadership traits that coaches admire.
  • In the run game, Hinzman plays with a mean streak and does a nice job generating a push at the initial point of attack. Hinzman can get outside and does a decent job landing blocks in space.
  • Shows a good feel for combo blocks, and he displays good quickness and flexibility when moving to the second level, capable of sealing the back side on reach blocks
  • Takes much more pride in the run game, where he plays through the whistle with tremendous physicality.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Raw as a pass protector, looking choppy and unnatural when moving back into his set, often playing too upright.
  • Can struggle to stay engaged, especially on the second level. His hand placement can be sloppy, costing him power.
  • Stronger pass rushers can get under his pads and steer him aside.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
