Shedeur Sanders could be traded to the Los Angeles Rams
Training camp is not yet here, and fans are already thinking that Shadeur Sanders might be traded. In an interesting post for the Browns blog, Dawg Pound Daily, Mark Sipos suggested the perfect trade fits for each of the four Browns quarterbacks.
In his post, Sipos suggested that Sanders would do well to learn the tactics of Sean McVay’s system and even become a starting QB when he joined the Rams.
Going by the post by Mark Sipos, Rams’ Mathew Stafford is still capable, but the Rams are yet to find a clear succession plan for him. Sanders has a clear set of skills, i.e. timing-based games and quick release which can seamlessly fit into the gaming mechanics of the Rams. Sitting under Stafford would allow Sanders to learn the ins and outs of the systems and give him the ability to become a potential starter as the days go by.
While the idea of Sander-to-Rams is just but a speculation, it has raised lots of discussion among fans and even some betting communities. Sports betting forums and gaming enthusiasts have begun drawing comparisons between his potential move and the element of chance found in online platforms. Sanders’ current standing
Saying that Sanders is anywhere on the Browns’ depth chart heading to training camp might be one of the most misleading, if not inaccurate, pieces of information. To start with, he was not a high pick, falling to the 5th round, 144th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Right now, the race is against three other quarterbacks, minus the injured Deshaun Watson.

- Fourth-year quarterback Kenny Pickett
- Fellow rookie (3rd round) Dillon Gabriel
- Fifth-round rookie Shedeur Sanders
Just imagine, all 32 NFL teams passed Sanders more than four times, and it feels like it’s nearer to the last pick of the draft than the first. In the race against the other three QBs in the Browns, it is highly unlikely that he will win the starting job. Well, he can be the second, third or fourth, but definitely not the starter; at least not now. But who really knows the fate of Sanders? He could be traded, waived or even make it to the practice squad. Right now, Sanders is just a polarizing name in the NFL.
But what are the Rams saying?
As mentioned above, the Rams still need a successor for Matthew Stafford. However, some people do not expect the team to pursue the great Shedeur Sanders from the Colorado Buffaloes football during this offseason. Kenneth Arthur in his post in the Turf Show Times stated that he believes that the Rams are more likely to stick with the 33-year-old Jimmy Garoppolo as a replacement for the current QB.
The post stated that people should not be convinced that Sean McVay will rule out Garoppolo from being the starter for a couple of seasons. Even though he has a notable history of injuries, he still has a good amount of football left in him. However, Sanders would be good for McVay’s offense, but would have to be coached out of his former playstyle in Colorado. In Pat Shurmur’s squad, he was more used to an extremely pass-heavy offense, which might not work with Mike LaFleur’s type of play.
But one thing that would trouble some of the Rams fans would be, is the answer to the team another team’s fifth-round QB who Les Snead did not think about during the draft, and even passed him at least four times?
More thoughts from the legends
A Browns legend (cornerback Hanford Dixon) has come out saying that he has a great feeling about the rookie. He believes that the Browns are in safe hands with the Colorado Buffaloes product. In his show, Dixon said that the rookie was going to rise to the top by somewhere within the season. Actually, Dixon stated that he believed that Shedeur was going to be the starting QB.
According to some reports, during the draft, Sanders was not as prepared as other QBs, and during the interviews, he might have come out as an overly confident or smug person. Whether this was just a speculation by people or it was the real thing, his stock was badly damaged.
The 23-year-old is clearly skilled. During his two-year play with the Colorado Buffaloes, he threw for over 6,800 yards and 56 touchdowns. If this is not raw talent coupled with real toughness, then what is? He has good arm strength and plays with a rhythmic kind of style. The only thing missing is the right setting, structure and time. He might not be someone that you expect to deliver immediately, but a project that is worth undertaking. Good coaching and proper situations will definitely do him much good.
In all this, Shedeur Sanders remains quiet. When asked what he thought all about the trade rumors going round, he just posted on his X page stating that only time will tell. With patience, things will just unfold slowly and clearly.
