The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Matt Goncalves, No. 126, roughly 20 picks past where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a potential shutdown corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kamren Kinchens at No. 50 is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No edge and no loss on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 97th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They barely believed it either: Matt Goncalves still on the board at slot 126. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
