The Cardinals did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jeffrey Bassa fell into the Round 6 slot. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They will need Dennis-Sutton to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
Matthew Golden in the 47th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Dylan Fairchild at slot 58 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dani Dennis-Sutton at pick 78 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Andrew Mukuba here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jacob Parrish well ahead of where he belonged. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They liked JJ Pegues enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 171. It fills a real need, too.
Jeffrey Bassa in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
