You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Cowboys did exactly that with DeMonte Capehart in pick 245. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

They have staked the next five years on J.J. McCarthy, which is the only story that really matters here. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Lovett.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
