There is a lot to like until you notice quarterback is still a hole. The Chiefs never got to the one that mattered most.
However the rest shakes out, McGlothern at that price is a win they earned. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Good price on Payton Wilson in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid sticker price for Isaac Guerendo in the 128th pick, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Johnny Wilson in No. 132. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ben Sinnott at slot 134 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 21, where Mason McCormick graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Walter Rouse at pick 159, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They let Dwight McGlothern come to them and pounced at the 173rd overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Fair-plus on Jalen Sundell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
