For all the boxes ticked, the Eagles skipped the loudest one: interior defensive lineman is exactly as bare as it was. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
However the rest shakes out, Bullock at that price is a win they earned. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Edgerrin Cooper at Round 2, Pick 18 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They did well to land Kris Jenkins in the 53rd overall pick, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Calen Bullock at pick No. 98 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
They took Dillon Johnson at par in No. 161, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Jha'Quan Jackson went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for AJ Barner in pick 172, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Curtis Jacobs at the 210th pick is the proof. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
