Start where it matters. The Chargers took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Jefferson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. However the rest shakes out, Henderson at that price is a win they earned.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
They paid up for Roman Wilson at pick No. 37 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Blake Corum in the 69th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Fair-plus on Audric Estime, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A wild overpay on Jordan Jefferson in the Round 5 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Erick All at pick 183 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Owens at Round 7, Pick 3 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing LaDarius Henderson in No. 256. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
