There is conviction, and then there is this. The Commanders took Jaheim Bell a full 72 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The whole projection now runs through Drake Maye; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.

Getting Green where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
