Somebody in No. 235 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Nicholas Singleton, the No. 100 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
They read the board right and Mason Graham was the payoff at the Round 1 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyler Booker at pick 53. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Xavier Watts in slot 84, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They robbed the room for Barrett Carter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jason Marshall Jr. at Round 5, Pick 27 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor itch, scratched.
Nicholas Singleton in No. 235 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
