Draft Profile: Bio
Brock Vandagriff, born May 30, 2002, in Atlanta, Georgia, is a quarterback prospect entering the NFL Draft from the University of Kentucky. Standing 6'3" and weighing 217 pounds, Vandagriff made waves at Prince Avenue Christian School in Bogart, Georgia. His senior year stood out, with over 4,000 passing yards, 46 touchdowns, and an additional 500+ rushing yards with 17 scores on the ground.

Vandagriff's high school performance didn't go unnoticed. He earned five-star recruit status, was named the Atlanta Touchdown Club's 2020 "Mr. Georgia," and made the shortlist for the 2020 National High School Quarterback of the Year Award. After initially committing to Oklahoma, Vandagriff switched gears and signed with the University of Georgia, opting to stay closer to home.

At Georgia, Vandagriff found himself in a packed quarterback room. He competed with JT Daniels, Stetson Bennett, and Carson Beck for playing time, but often found himself the odd man out. Despite the fierce competition, Vandagriff stuck it out for three seasons, contributing to two national championship teams in 2021 and 2022. His playing time was limited, appearing in 13 games and completing 12 of 21 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns, with 46 rushing yards on six attempts.

Seeking a clearer path to starting, Vandagriff transferred to the University of Kentucky for his junior year in 2024. This move reunited him with offensive coordinator Liam Coen and offered a chance to lead an SEC offense.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Prototypical quarterback size with a well-built frame, allowing him to withstand hits and see over the offensive line
  • Displays impressive arm strength, capable of making all the throws required in an NFL offense
  • Exhibits good athleticism and mobility, able to extend plays and gain yards with his legs when needed
  • Shows the ability to throw accurately from multiple platforms, demonstrating flexibility in his passing mechanics
  • High football IQ, having been exposed to complex offensive systems at both Georgia and Kentucky
  • Quick release, getting the ball out of his hands efficiently to beat incoming pressure
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Pedigree as a highly-rated recruit suggests untapped potential that could flourish with NFL coaching
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Limited game experience at the collegiate level, with only one season as a full-time starter
  • Decision-making under pressure needs refinement, occasionally forcing throws into tight windows
  • Footwork can be inconsistent, affecting accuracy on some throws, particularly when moving in the pocket
  • Deep ball accuracy is a work in progress, with some passes sailing on him when pushing the ball downfield
  • May need time to adjust to the speed of the NFL game given his relatively raw status as a prospect
Scouting Report: Summary
Vandagriff's toolkit flashes NFL potential, but his game tape reveals a work in progress. His arm talent shines on deep routes, showcasing the zip and touch to stress secondaries vertically. A quick trigger and ability to deliver from various platforms hint at pocket savvy and improvisational flair. However, his accuracy wavers on intermediate and short throws, pointing to mechanical inconsistencies that need addressing.

As a dual-threat, Vandagriff's mobility adds a dynamic element to his game. His capacity to extend plays and gain chunks with his legs could intrigue offensive coordinators running modern spread systems. Yet, his processing speed under pressure and overall field generalship need considerable polish, likely stemming from limited starting reps at the collegiate level.

The 2024 season at Kentucky looms as a critical audition tape for Vandagriff's NFL aspirations. It's his chance to showcase growth in decision-making, consistency, and leadership in a pro-style offense. A strong campaign could significantly boost his draft stock, while struggles may reinforce his status as a developmental project. His ideal NFL fit would be in a system leveraging play-action and designed rollouts, allowing him to maximize his arm strength and athleticism while simplifying reads as he acclimates to the heightened speed and complexity of the pro game.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
