Draft Profile: Bio
Branson Robinson is a powerful running back from Georgia who brings a bruising style to the position. The 5'10", 220-pound back hails from Germantown, Mississippi, where he was a highly-touted four-star recruit. Robinson rushed for over 1,000 yards as a high school junior before joining the Bulldogs' loaded backfield.

In his freshman season at Georgia, Robinson saw limited action but made the most of his opportunities. He appeared in 12 games, rushing for 341 yards on 68 carries for a solid 4.9 yards per attempt. His breakout performance came against Auburn, where he racked up 98 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries, earning SEC Freshman of the Week honors. Robinson capped off the season with two touchdowns in Georgia's national championship victory over TCU.

Robinson's sophomore campaign was derailed before it began, as he suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in fall camp that forced him to miss the entire 2023 season. Despite the setback, he remained focused on his rehabilitation and was named to Bruce Feldman's College Football Freaks List for his remarkable strength in the weight room.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Super athletic - Made Bruce Feldman's 2023 Freak's List at #41. He Wrote: "the 5-10, 220-pound sophomore is one of the most powerful dudes in college football, pound for pound. His bench press this offseason went from 425 to 470 — insane numbers for a running back. He also squats 590 and power-cleaned 315. His broad jump is also elite at 10-7 and his vertical jump is 33 inches."
  • Compact, muscular frame at 5'10" and 220 pounds provides natural leverage when running between the tackles
  • Displays good vision and patience to set up blocks, particularly on inside zone runs
  • Demonstrates solid ball security, rarely putting the ball on the ground
  • Possesses the frame and strength to be an effective pass protector with proper coaching
  • Shows good burst through the hole and ability to get to the second level quickly
  • High character individual with strong work ethic - solid dedication to rehab
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Lacks elite top-end speed to consistently break long runs at the NFL level
  • Limited experience as a receiver out of the backfield, with only 2 receptions in his college career
  • Coming off a significant knee injury that cost him his entire sophomore season
  • Pass protection technique needs refinement, despite having the physical tools to excel
  • May need to improve lateral agility to create more missed tackles in space against NFL defenders
Scouting Report: Summary
Robinson faces an uphill battle as he returns from his devastating patellar tendon injury. The severity of this injury cannot be overstated, as it often impacts explosiveness and overall athleticism. His ability to regain his pre-injury form will be a major question mark for NFL scouts. Additionally, Robinson will need to prove himself in a crowded Georgia backfield upon his return, competing for carries with two other quality backs.

Given his limited college production and the significant injury setback, Robinson projects as a developmental prospect at the NFL level. Teams will need to thoroughly evaluate his medical reports and post-injury performance. If he can demonstrate a full recovery and showcase his bruising running style, Robinson could carve out a role as a short-yardage and goal-line specialist early in his career.

Robinson's NFL future will depend largely on his rehabilitation progress and ability to stand out in a competitive backfield. Teams running power schemes may view him as a late-round flyer with upside if he can recapture his explosiveness and continue to develop as a pass-catcher and blocker. His work ethic and physical tools provide hope, but the road ahead is challenging for this once-promising prospect.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
