Draft Profile: Bio
Nyziah Hunter from Salinas High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Hunter opted to join California. In 2024 as a freshman Hunter saw action in 4 games for the Golden Bears as he made 14 receptions for 182 yards for an average of 13.0 yards per reception, with 4 TDs, and an elite QB rating when targeted of 143.0.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Often used on deep routes, getting separation down the sideline or over the middle on crossing routes by extending his arms rather than pure speed.
- Plays fast and confident. Covers a lot of ground in the short half of the field and is slippery after the catch.
- Strong runner with the ball with enough agility to make defenders miss in the open field.
- Solidly built with good overall size and bulk - has long arms and does a nice job extending to create a large catching radius.
- Hunter is quicker than fast and lacks elite wheels to simply blow by defenders, but Hunter has good football speed.
- Hunter also proved to be a force in catch-and-run situations. A violent runner who transitions upfield quickly after the catch, he has the speed to pick up chunks of yardage once he’s broken the first tackle.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- He's an unpolished pass catcher who needs to work on the little things but offers immediate value as an impact return man.
- He’s not going to threaten to take the top off of a defense.
- Comes off the snap high and upright, and doesn't get to top speed quickly. Not sudden or elusive.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
