Draft Profile: Bio
Ryan Wingo grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where he starred at St. Louis University High School with 129 receptions, 2,160 yards, and 31 receiving touchdowns across his varsity career. A verified track standout with sub-10.55 100-meter speed, Wingo earned All-America honors and a spot in the 2024 All-American Bowl. He signed with Texas as a consensus top-40 national recruit, choosing the Longhorns over Georgia, Michigan, and Missouri.As a true freshman in 2024, Wingo played in all 16 games with three starts. He flashed early with a 55-yard run at Michigan and a 75-yard touchdown from Arch Manning against UTSA. He finished the year with 29 receptions for 472 yards and two touchdowns, sharing targets with Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, and Gunnar Helm.
Those three departed after the season, and Wingo stepped into a full-time starting role as a sophomore. He responded with 54 catches for 834 yards and seven touchdowns across 13 starts, earning Coaches' All-SEC Second Team recognition. His best stretch included a career-high 184-yard effort at Mississippi State and a 75-yard touchdown against Vanderbilt. Wingo closed the year with four catches for 64 yards in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan before exiting with a toe injury.

Scouting Report: Summary
Give Ryan Wingo a runway and he is one of the most dangerous players in the class with the ball in his hands. His 447 yards after the catch led every receiver here, a product of top-percentile speed and a 214-pound build that runs through arm tackles once he turns upfield. The 184-yard explosion at Mississippi State was the loud example, but the jet sweeps, screens and slants Texas schemed for him were the steady diet.Where the tape cools is at the catch point. He dropped seven passes, won only four of fourteen contested targets, and his hands grade reflects a receiver not yet dependable when the coverage sits tight. Quieter games against Kentucky and San Jose State show what happens when the manufactured touches slow down and he has to win on route craft, still a work in progress.
He belongs in an offense built on motion and yards after the catch, one that gets him the ball moving rather than asking him to pluck contested throws on the boundary. Overall, the athletic profile is a starter's, and paired with the ball skills he already flashes, Wingo lands as a second-tier weapon now with the upside of a featured one if the hands and route polish catch up to the speed.
