Boards are made to be trusted, and the Patriots shredded theirs for Tanner McLachlan. He came off 35 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
On value alone, Mahogany makes the weekend a net positive. The phones were where this weekend was really won. They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it.
Bottom line, with Olumuyiwa Fashanu leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Chris Braswell well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
J.J. McCarthy in Round 3, Pick 4 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Roman Wilson at the 90th pick is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Braden Fiske at slot 103 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Christian Mahogany here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reach for Theo Johnson in the 139th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
A premium they did not need to pay, JD Bertrand a notch or two before his time. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The board had cheaper options than Joshua Cephus at No. 224, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
