After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Vikings committed. J.J. McCarthy is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Rosemy-Jacksaint. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want. They are betting McCarthy proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Connor McGovern gives the group a proven body among the projects.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get the face of the franchise, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Chris Braswell at the 42nd pick squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Khyree Jackson slipping to Round 3, Pick 36 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They took Tyler Davis at par in the 116th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Justin Eboigbe at pick No. 156 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A slide stopped in No. 179, with Isaiah Davis worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steele Chambers at slot 190 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They barely believed it either: Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint still on the board at the Round 7 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Edefuan Ulofoshio in No. 252, and that is fine. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
A reach for Dylan McMahon in Round 7, Pick 34; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
