Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Jones at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
The Cowboys clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get a disruptor off the edge. Need was not the driver here.
In pick 24 they get a blindside protector at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
By-the-book stuff, Keon Coleman at No. 44 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Michael Hall Jr. in the 87th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Jarrian Jones was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 17, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Ryan Watts at slot 231, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
