After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They are betting Thomas Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brian Thomas Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cooper Beebe in No. 54. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A premium they did not need to pay, Amarius Mims a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Jason Marshall Jr. at the 105th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They did well to land Jamari Thrash in pick 142, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No edge and no loss on Steve Linton in Round 6, Pick 8; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
