No fireworks, just good process: the Jaguars sat on their board and let Sheridan Jones come to them at No. 236. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. The cost of the Taylor III reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get a potential shutdown corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Worthy at the 48th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A premium they did not need to pay, Leonard Taylor III a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Zak Zinter at No. 114. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Blake Fisher went about where he belonged in pick 116. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Xavier Thomas in slot 153 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid a round early for Frank Gore Jr. in pick 212, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Sheridan Jones in the 236th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
