There is reaching, and then there is Malik Washington at the 253rd overall pick. The Ravens jumped the board by 160 and dared it to prove them wrong. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Getting Colby where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Byron Murphy II at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid sticker price for Adisa Isaac in the 95th overall pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Audric Estime in No. 110 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
They let Connor Colby come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 33. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ricky Pearsall in the 204th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached into another round for Malik Washington, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
