Somebody took the Giants to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Put together, it is a D.
Drake Maye is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Adonai Mitchell at Round 2, Pick 7, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tyler Guyton in the 53rd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick No. 70 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Christian Haynes at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Audric Estime in slot 107, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on Javion Cohen in the 143rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 185 with a little surplus value in Sam Hartman. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
