Thirty-one other rooms let Marist Liufau slide, and the Ravens were the ones holding the card at No. 218. Highway robbery. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The trade work was a quiet net positive. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Jordan Morgan at the 44th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Brian Thomas Jr. in Round 2, Pick 19 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jonathon Brooks is a better player than pick No. 62 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A edge rusher of that caliber at the Round 3 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Patrick Paul at No. 93 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nice patience on Christian Mahogany, who had no business lasting to the 113th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let a cornerback like Cam Hart reach pick 130 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Luke McCaffrey at slot 165 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Marist Liufau at pick 218 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor itch, scratched.
