There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Chiefs started one anyway for AJ Barner, 26 picks ahead of schedule.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Jenkins. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Kris Jenkins at No. 64 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Dominick Puni at pick 95 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They went early on Dylan Laube in the Round 4 slot, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Good price on Jaylin Simpson in slot 158, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
