Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Lions, and a B to prove it.

Every other box got a look, but edge rusher did not. The Lions will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

However the rest shakes out, Mahogany at that price is a win they earned. The cost of the Barrett reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Kamari Lassiter
In the 30th pick they get a press-man option on the boundary. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick62 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
No drama and no debate, T'Vondre Sweat went about where he belonged in pick No. 62. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick73 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick93 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
A slide stopped in slot 93, with Christian Mahogany worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick167 Rnd5 Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett at the 167th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick208 Rnd6 Myles Jones
They did well to land Myles Jones in pick 208, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick251 Rnd7 Eric Gentry
Eric Gentry is a better player than Round 7, Pick 31 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
